Opening Prayer (Unison)

Speak with authority in our lives, Christ.

Speak to us, and to what is in us, so that we might be whole.

Speak to us, with love, with hope, and with strength, so that we might hear you, and know, deep inside, that we are your people, and that you are our God.  Amen.

Opening Hymn – All Creatures of our God and King

Prayer of Confession

Leader: God is gracious and merciful and knows our needs even before they reach our lips. Still, we engage in confession, admitting to God all that rests uneasily in our hearts. Confident of God’s love, let us make our confession.

All: Holy God, we confess that we can be a prideful people – so full of knowledge that we hardly have any room for love.  We confess that we too often judge when we really need to listen.  We confess that we push people away when you call us to welcome them into our communities.  We confess that we often think only about protecting ourselves when we are challenged to risk everything for others.  Lord, forgive us for being more concerned with being right than we are with  showing love.  Forgive us for demanding uniformity when you call us to celebrate diversity.  Guide us, Great God, to live according to your unconditional love.  Teach us to see one another as siblings, that we may learn to live as one family.  Amen.

Silent Prayer

Assurance of Pardon

Leader:  Quiet your hearts for God is speaking to you with love. Rest your spirits  for God will surround you with peace. Open your lives to God’s power and presence and do not be afraid. God is with us, now and for all time. Amen.

People: Thanks be to God!  Amen!
