The Sixth Sunday of Easter

Mother’s Day

Order of Worship

Prelude – Make Us One – arr. Jim Hammerly

Greeting/Welcome

Call to Worship

Leader: We would be perfectly happy if our path were faultless, if we were always in step with God.

People: This is my commandment: that you love one another.

Leader: God has given us commandments that we may live as effectively as possible.  With our eyes fixed on doing the right thing, we shall never be put to shame.

People: You are to love one another in the same way as I have loved you.

Leader: O Lord, touch our lips with your saving grace,

People: that our lives may declare your praise!

Opening Prayer (Unison)

Holy God, may we hear your voice in the stillness of night, in the clatter of day you call us, and we respond, Here I am!  May we follow you and may we love as you love.  Amen.

Opening Hymn – Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing – #400 UMH

Affirmation of Faith

Leader: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation or distress, or persecution or famine, or nakedness or peril or sword?

People: No! In all things we are more than conquerors through the One who loved us. We are sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Thanks be to God! Amen.
