On Saturday, June 15th, Estes Park United Methodist Church served as a sponsor for the third annual Pride in the Park Saturday Family Friendly Event in the parking lot of the Bull Pin Bowling Alley. Members of the congregation gave out Pride teddy bears made by the EPUMC Friendly Stitchers. They also gave out flags, beads, and information about the church, a Reconciling Congregation. Pastor Ann Lantz spoke to the group, emphasizing EPUMC’s pledge: “No matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome at EPUMC.

A Reconciling Congregation:

  • Welcomes, affirms, and celebrates LGBTQ+ individuals.
  • Provides a safe place of worship and fellowship.
  • Utilizes inclusive language in both written and spoken communication.
  • Resists oppression in all forms within the church and the wider world.
  • Includes LGBTQ+ persons in leadership roles within the congregation.
  • Commits to learning and growing in hospitality towards all of God’s children.

This movement is about creating a welcoming church environment that invites all people to join in a faith journey toward greater love, understanding, and mutual respect.
