Greeting/Welcome

Call to Worship

Leader: God whispers to each of us:  you are my beloved, created in love for love.

People: My spirit answers, Here I am, Lord.  Speak to me anew.

Leader: God breathes on us the Holy Spirit, knitting many members into one body, the body of Christ.

People: Together we answer, Here we are Lord.  Come, Holy Spirit.

Leader: God has yet more vision for the people.  Who will work to extend God’s kingdom into our hurting world?

People: Here we are Lord. Empower us for your work.

Opening Prayer (Unison)

Insistent God, by night and day you summon your slumbering people, so stir us with your voice and enlighten our lives with your grace that we give ourselves fully to Christ’s call to mission and ministry. Amen.

Opening Hymn – Songs of Thankfulness and Praise

Prayer of Confession

Leader: Lord, you call, but we do not always recognize your voice.

People: Sometimes we don’t listen carefully. Sometimes we’re caught off guard.

Leader: Lord, you call, but we haven’t always taught others to hear you.

People: Sometimes we stand in the way, allowing our voices to ring out over yours.

Leader: Lord, you call, but we don’t always believe our ears.

People: Sometimes we believe we know better. Sometimes we think you can’t possibly be calling us, or her, or him.

All: Forgive us, Lord, our unpracticed listening, our closed ears. Help us to hear. Amen.

Silent Prayer

Assurance of Pardon

Leader:  For nothing is impossible with God.  There is no place you can go, no end of the earth you can run, where God cannot find you. There is nothing on earth or beyond death that can separate you from the love of    God in Christ Jesus our Lord.  You are forgiven.  You are loved.  You  are reconciled to God.  Go and live with the love of God. Amen.

People: Thanks be to God!  Amen!
