Greeting/Welcome

Call to Worship

Leader: Like Joseph and Mary, we want to protect the child Jesus.

People: We want the Christ Child to be safe and sound.

Leader: And when something unexpected happens, we are frightened.

People: We wonder what we should have done differently.

Leader: Lord, on this day, help us to remember that God is ever with us.

People: Let us place our trust in God’s loving presence as we grow in our own faith.

Opening Prayer (Unison)

God, who walks with each one of us, help us to place our trust in your guiding care for us as we gather to learn the great lessons of living in peaceful community with each other. Prepare us to be witnesses of your love and forgiveness. Make us ready to work for you in your creation; for we ask this in the name of Jesus, your beloved Son. Amen.

Opening Hymn

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

Affirmation of Faith

We are not alone, we live in God’s world.

We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit. We trust in God. We are called to be the Church: to celebrate God’s to live with respect in Creation, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God.
